Our goal is to create an environment in which professionals can interact and openly share ideas.
The Cidel Provence conference is held in Seillans, a unique medieval village perched atop a hill in the South of France. Seillans is known for its charming houses and scenic views of the countryside. This picturesque quality often lures artists who come to seek inspiration. Among the more prominent of these artists are the German surrealist Max Ernst, the composer Charles Gounod and the journalist and writer Alphonse Karr.
What is HAYLAU?
Haylau is the summer home of Geoff Matus, Cidel’s Chairman, which is located on the edge of the village of Seillans. Haylau is located a short walk from the conference facility and is the primary meeting point for the conference. Most of our meals will be held at Haylau.
How much does the conference cost?
There is no cost to attend the conference. As our guest, we cover premium economy airfare, transfers in France, meals and accommodation during the conference.
What amount of spending money is required during the conference?
As our guest, we are pleased to cover all standard expenses for participants. There will be an opportunity to shop in Seillans and/or the surrounding area during free time and during the afternoon activity, therefore participants should bring some discretionary spending money (Euro).
What type of accommodation is provided in Seillans?
Participants stay in local houses or hotel-type accommodation within walking distance or a short drive from the conference facility. Although accommodations vary, each house offers a shared living/dining area and comfortable private bedroom with a private washroom. The Cidel Team provides transfers to/from those accommodations that are not within walking distance.
Who books my travel arrangements for the conference?
We will arrange all travel for conference participants including air travel and transfers once in France. Although we endeavour to meet individual constraints, the majority of participants travel together from their home cities.
What type of travel is provided for the conference?
We offer all participants a premium economy ticket on a commercial airline, departing from their hometown. Participants wishing to book executive class or alternative travel arrangements will be reimbursed for the equivalent cost of a premium economy ticket from their hometown. Please see below for additional information regarding booking separate travel arrangements.
What if I prefer to book my own travel for the conference?
Participants may book their own travel for the conference. To ensure no conflicts, participants wishing to do so should contact Cidel.
We will reimburse participants for the equivalent cost of a premium economy ticket obtained by Cidel.
Do I have to attend all four days of the conference?
Given the intimate nature of the conference, participants must attend all four days of the conference.
What if I have specific dietary restrictions?
Please confirm any food allergies or dietary restrictions on the registration form.
What is the dress code for the conference?
There is no set dress code for the conference. Most participants dress in casual, comfortable clothing, depending on the weather. Lunches and dinners are usually served on the garden patio at Haylau, therefore warmer clothes may be required for the evening.
Is there any free time?
The majority of the day is spent at the conference facility and Haylau as a group. However, there is free time during the latter part of the afternoon and in the early evening prior to dinner. There is one afternoon free during which time we arrange for activities in the surrounding area. More information will be available once the agenda is finalized closer to the conference.
Do I need to bring copies of my discussion material to hand out at the conference?
No. This is a paperless conference and all materials will be made available electronically.
Please bring your own laptop/tablet to access conference materials.
Participants will be asked to submit any handouts or discussion materials to us before the conference – we will communicate this deadline in advance.
Will my cell phone work in Seillans?
Yes, although signal strength can vary.
Most (if not all) the accommodations will have access to wi-fi. It is important to note that, given the infrastructure in Seillans, slow internet connections or ‘down’ periods are common.
Is there a printing facility?
No. This is a paperless conference.
Is there a land line where I can be reached during the conference?
Yes, there is a landline at Haylau as well as at most of the accommodations. We will provide each participant with relevant telephone numbers for their accommodation prior to the conference.
May I bring my spouse/partner to the conference?
Given the intimate nature of the conference, spouses/partners are not permitted to attend.
